84-year-old James May and 44-year-old Jacqueline Love died inside
the home.
Three people escaped but three more were still inside when IMPD and
IFD arrived.
One person jumped off the garage roof to escape the fire.
Firefighters said more could have died in the fire had it not been for the
heroics of two IMPD officers.
Officers David Siefker and Stephen Gorgievski searched the rooms
from the outside and spotted one woman on the floor.
Officer Gorgievski then pulled the woman out of the fire.
Four individuals were rushed to Wishard Hospital in critical
condition.
One of the family members was filling a kerosene heater.
Gas utilities had been shut off to the home, so the family was using space
heaters to keep them warm.
